Cases
Following are just two examples of many cases we have successfully represented on behalf of our clients.
A
The Case: A German NGO published report on four ready-made garment factories of Bangladesh alleging violation of workers’ rights, non-compliance with labour standards, work ethics and freedom of association. This report was used by a German Consumers Rights Protection group to sue one of the Europe’s the largest retail chain store companies, a customer of one of the four alleged companies in Bangladesh. The allegation against the chain store was not being consistent to their advertisement statements of social and ethical compliances at their production factories – thus cheating it’s customers.
The report drew urgent attention of the senior management of our clients named in the report. They felt the report was not only false but also damaging to their reputation and business which they built over the years through hard work, dedication and compliance with national and international standards of the industry.
Actions: The management of the company hired Stein & Partners to act on their behalf in order to establish their rights against the publisher of the report. Our experienced lawyer studied the allegations carefully, collected facts and evidences encountering the allegations. The lawyer started negotiations to remove the name of our client from the report which did not produce satisfactory results. As a result a formal Legal Notice was served with well researched and thoroughly thought arguments along with supporting evidences encountering each allegation in the report.
Outcome: The false report against our client was removed from the internet until a revised version was published in agreement with our client to their full satisfaction.
B
The Case: An internationally experienced seller in Bangladesh shipped goods worth of €400,000.00 at an agreed unit price of €2 with the buyer in Europe. The buyer issues irrecoverable L/C at sight in favour of the seller as terms of payment. When the goods arrived at the port in Europe the buyer refused to accept the shipment citing poor quality and threatened the seller to auction the entire consignment within 10 days unless the seller accepted a reduced unit price of € 1, just half of the agreed unit price.
Actions: The seller in Asia contacted Stein & Partners, Germany by email at ask@steinandpartners.com describing the case in brief. Stein & Partners, Germany requested for more detailed information to judge merit of the case. Prompt reply followed from the seller in Asia. Our experienced lawyer evaluated the case quickly and decided to act on behalf of the seller.
Outcome: After only six weeks of dedicated and hard work of Stein & Partners, Germany the full amount of € 400,000.00 were recovered for the seller in Bangladesh.
