Case A

The Case: A German organisation published a report on four ready-made garment factories of Bangladesh. Right from the beginning the report had a clear intention of undermining the ready-made garment industry of Bangladesh citing examples of four factories.

The report drew urgent attention of the management of one of the factories named in the report. They felt the report was not only wrong but also damaging to their reputation and business which they built over the years through hard work, dedication and complying with national and international standards of the industry.

Actions: The management of the company hired Stein & Partners to act on their behalf in order to establish their rights against the publisher and website. Stein & Partners' experienced lawyer studied the report carefully identifying each allegation, collected facts and visited the factory personally in order to prepare detailed evidences against the report.

Outcome: Well researched and thoroughly thought arguments with supporting evidences were used for serving a tough legal notice to the publisher and the website encountering each allegation successfully. The report was removed from the public domains i.e from the internet.

Case B

The Case B: An internationally experienced seller in Asia ships goods worth of € 400,000.00 at an agreed unit price of € 2 with the buyer in Europe. The buyer issues irrecoverable L/C at sight in favour of the seller as terms of payment. When the goods arrive at the port in Europe the buyer refuses accepting the shipment citing poor quality and threats the seller to auction the entire consignment within 10 days unless the buyer accepts a reduced unit price of € 1, just half of the agreed unit price.
